Grana Padano, Aged Over 18 months - 1 Pound

Grana Padano, Aged Over 18 months - 1 Pound Review

Grana Padano, Aged Over 18 months - 1 Pound Feature

  • Delicious imported Italian cheese
  • Has a unique and grainy consistency
  • Matured and aged for over 18 months to perfection
  • Features a fragrant and delicate taste
  • Offers 1 pound per package
Grana Padano is one of the most famous cheese of Italy. The name Grana was popularly bestowed upon the cheese because of its grainy consistency which was markedly different from the other cheeses known until then. It began to appear with greater frequency as an ingredient in the foods of aristocrats and commoners alike. Grana Padano is a cylindrical, cooked, semi-fat hard cheese which is matured slowly. It is a sweet and savory cheese. It may be used as a table cheese or for grating. A golden rind encases a white or straw-colored fine-grained cheese with crumbly fissures radiating outwards from the center. The taste is fragrant and delicate, and the cheese preserves its integrity for one or two years.

Chabichou du Poitou by Artisanal Premium Cheese

Chabichou du Poitou by Artisanal Premium Cheese Review

Chabichou du Poitou is one of the older French cheeses. It has won name-protection (DOP), guaranteeing the authenticity of its origin. It is made in the very limited geographic area above the chalky soils of the threshold of Poitou, halfway between Paris and Bordeaux. The size of a wine tumbler, Chabichou has a crinkly skin and nice, dense, chalky paste that melts in the mouth. Firm and complex with a lingering, tangy finish, Chabichou pairs well with Pouilly-Fume, Sancerres and Muscadets from the region in addition to Sauvignon Blanc. One piece weighs approximately 6 ounces.

  • Grating cheese with a bite
  • Excellent over pasta, rice or steamed vegetables
  • Original wheel is over 60 pounds!
  • Made from pure sheep's milk
  • Imported from Sardinia, Italy
Pecorino Romano is Italy's oldest cheese, dating back to ancient Roman times. This hard sheep's milk cheese is typically aged for one year and used as a grating cheese. Zerto Pecorino Romano, like most Pecorino Romano made today, is made in Sardinia where land and sheep are abundant.

Romano is an integral part of many southern Italian dishes, especially those that include pasta, tomatoes, potatoes, and other vegetables. A bit drier and saltier than northern Italian "Grana" cheeses (Parmigiano Reggiano and Grana Padano), this cheese is excellent grated over pasta dishes but is not recommended as an eating cheese. For an eating Romano, please try our Pecorino Romano Genuino by Lopez, which is still made in Lazio, the region surounding Rome.

  • Made from pasteurized sheep's milk.
  • Whole form is 45 lbs.
  • We cut and wrap this item by the pound.
  • Please contact us if you would like to purchase the whole form.
